Decorated Fudge Easter Eggs

Decorated Fudge Easter EggsThis fun and easy project is perfect for kids, and great treats for Easter baskets or gifts.

What You Will Need:

1. 3 oz. Cream Cheese
2. 1 tsp. Vanilla
3. Dash of salt
4. 2 ¾ C. Powdered Sugar
5. Mini M&M’s
6. Squeeze tube frosting in Easter colors
7. Sprinkles in pink, blue, purple, and green
8. Small glass pan
9. Spatula (both kinds)
10. Cookie pan
11. Wax paper
12. Plastic wrap
13. Egg shaped cookie cutter

Directions:

1. Begin by making the fudge. Lightly grease a small pan.
2. With a mixer beat together cream cheese, vanilla and salt.
3. Add part of the powdered sugar.
4. Mix until blended.
5. Continue adding in powdered sugar in smaller amounts and mixing until all 2 ¾ cups have been added.
6. Blend well until the fudge is creamy and smooth.
7. Use the rubber spatula to pour the fudge into the greased pan and smooth it out.
8. Put plastic wrap over the pan and put it in the fridge
9. Let the fudge chill and harden for about an hour.
10. Take out the fudge and with the cookie cutter, cut out eggs in the fudge.
11. Put waxed paper on the cookie sheet.
12. Use the other spatula to take the fudge eggs out of the pan and place them on the cookie sheet. (Hint: it is easier to do this if you use the spatula to cut a square around the egg. Then place it on the cookie sheet and remove the excess fudge from around the egg shape).
13. With the sprinkles, frosting, and M&M’s decorate the fudge as if you would decorate a cookie with frosting on it.
14. When all of the eggs are decorated place them back in the fridge to continue hardening.

You can create other fun Easter shaped fudge by using different cookie cutters. Another option is to use the egg Jell-o molds that are available and create fudge eggs that look real. This type can’t be decorated until the fudge is completely hardened.
