Easter Eggs

Easter eggs are uniquely decorated eggs used while celebrating the Easter holiday. For centuries, the traditions and customs of using colored eggs have been related with Easter. In early days decorated and colored chicken eggs were used. Nowadays, these chicken eggs are being substituted by chocolate eggs and plastic eggs filled with jelly beans.

What is the history of Easter eggs?

The Easter egg tradition is an old one, dating back to the entry of Christianity in the continent of Europe. It is considered as the symbol of fertility in numerous cultures. Colored eggs are part of customary Easter gift baskets. In Slavic-speaking countries, Easter eggs are made using decoration method called pisanka. Colored eggs were part of the New Year celebration in Iran for over 3,000 years. In various cultures, the egg represents latent life to be born. Christians consider eggs as the symbol of resurrection of Yeshua ben-Yosef.

How are Easter eggs decorated?

Easter eggs are decorated in Different ways in different cultures. In Greece Crimson eggs are exchanged to honor the blood of Christ. In Austria and Germany green eggs are used on Holy Thursday. Slavic people decorate their eggs in unique patterns of silver and gold.

The Ukrainians and Poles beautify eggs with simple colors and designs. They make eggs using a distinct method known as pysanki. Hanacke kraslice are Easter eggs adorned with straw. They are made in Czech Republic
 
In Germany the eggs are not broken. Instead they remove contents by making a hole at the end of each egg using a needle and the contents are blown out. Then these hollow eggs were colored and suspended from trees and shrubs during the week of Easter. The Armenians decorate hollow eggs with the pictures of various religious designs.

How to make a simple Easter egg?

Easter eggs are main symbol of Easter. It is also very easy to make Easter eggs. A simple Easter egg can be made using eggs, water and colored tissue papers. Follow the following procedure to make a simple Easter egg.

Boil the eggs until they have become hard. After boiling the eggs, place them in a bowl. Then take small pieces of colored tissue papers. Using water, place the pieces of tissue papers on the egg. Then, remove the pieces of tissue papers after sometime and find out what color pattern has formed.

What are the Easter games that are played using Easter eggs?

Easter Eggs play a vital part in Easter games. The Romans conducted running races on oval tracks during the Easter season. They gave eggs as prizes for winners.
Easter egg roll and Easter egg hunt are two common Easter egg games.

In Easter egg hunt children hunt for eggs those were hidden by the Easter bunny while they were asleep. The child who is finding the most number of eggs is rewarded.   

The Easter egg roll is to find out who rolls the egg without breaking it. Usually eggs are rolled on a grassy slope, the most well-known egg rolling is that conducted on the white house lawn in which hundreds of children participate.

What are the beeping Easter eggs?

Beeping Easter eggs are used to facilitate visually impaired kids to participate in Easter egg hunt. These eggs produce different noises that help the visually impaired to hunt for eggs.  They play high pitch sounds or melody.
